Halloween Costume!

This is what I was for Halloween. Actually, that's not completely true. I ordered the Hunger Games training shirt in my size online, but it didn't end up coming in until Halloween day. THIS is what I wore to our school's  TV taping, where I am a host. All the hosts dressed up for Halloween, and my co-host was Hermione Granger. It was kind of perfect. When I got the training shirt in, I ended up wearing that with the leggings and the boots (and the pin of course, which was actually handmade for me by a close crafty friend) instead of the leather jacket and the tank top.

This look is the Katniss Everdeen: Hunter in District 12 look. Hope you like it.  And yes, that was a real bow and arrow. Thanks E-bay.

Top 5 Current Favorite Songs

My favorite thing to do in my car is sing along with the radio and there have been a couple of songs that I'm addicted to recently:

• What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction. I know this song is by a boy band and somewhat juvenile, but it gets stuck in my head every time I hear it. It's just so happy and pop-y that I love it. Don't judge. 
• Eyes Open by Taylor Swift. I love Tay Swift in general, but this song was made for the Hunger Games movie, which I am obsessed with right now. Tay Swift+Hunger Games=great song. Well, not necessarily, but in this case that equation stands true :) I just love the lyrics of the song, and the message. I feel like Katniss when I sing it with my Katniss braid in my hair!
• Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen. This song gets stuck in my head too. It's just a happy song, and I just love it. I can't explain it. 
• Payphone by Maroon 5. Again, the lyrics get me on this one and I'm a hopeless romantic, which doesn't help. Love it though :)
• Starships by Nicki Minaj. Nicki Minaj is the bomb.com in my mind right now. Her songs are always super catchy, and I can't help myself when I sing along to this song.

These songs are my top 5 songs of the moment (in no particular order). I like pop songs that are super catchy as well as ballad like songs that have pretty lyrics. I'm getting ready to make a mix CD for my car, and I thought that I'd share my favorite songs with you. Monday Update-July 23rd

This week is going to be an exciting week!

Today, Monday, I had a great surprise from one of my friends. When we were at the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises, we were talking about how amazing her costume was, and about upcoming premieres and costumes. We both agreed that we wanted to go to the Catching Fire premiere together. I told her I wanted to be Katniss and she and I began to plan out our costumes. Today, she came in to camp with a mockingjay pin that looks ah-may-zing! And the kicker is that SHE MADE IT herself! It was the perfect start to the week, even though today kind of sucked.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, I will get to spend the afternoon after camp with my friend from college who is in the area for the day (she lives 6 hours away from me). We are going bowling and then out to dinner! I'm so excited!!!

Wednesday and Thursday will just be regular old days, but Friday will be the last day of theater camp, at which point the kids that I've been working with will put on their play Friday night.

Saturday and on, I'll be packing back up for college and re-arranging my room before I leave. It will be a race against time, but hopefully I'll get everything done before I go back.

This past weekend has been kind of bad, though. I had my braces adjusted, and the rubber bands are killing me. But other than that, I can't complain. I have this week's blog posts all planned out (and I've been writing them ahead of time, to keep my sanity and to make sure they are up on time) so this should be an exciting week for you and I! Post down below with what you are up to this week!

Katniss For A Day!!!

Yesterday, my friend and I were supervising some kids at camp, and while they were playing a game, my friend asked if she could braid my hair. Of course I said yes, because I'd never turn down how good it feels to have someone play with my hair! She mentioned that she knew how to do the Katniss braid, from the Hunger Games (Side note: If you haven't read the book or watched the movie go do it NOW! It's a great series and I'm a little obsessed with it!!!). Since I'm a huge fan of Katniss Everdeen, I asked her to do the Katniss braid for me. Here's what it looked like (at the end of the day, mind you):

This braid is SO pretty and super practical. I now understand why Katniss kept her hair this way in the Hunger Games. It keeps all of your hair out of your face all day, and it doesn't fall down at all. I am just in love with it.

I just wish I knew how to braid my hair this way! If you know how to do it, please let me know. I'm in love with it!!!

Bonus: It also looks pretty when you take it down at night :)
